Municipality of Karlobag

Municipality of Karlobag

The territory of the Karlobag municipality represents the southwestern Velebit coastal and mountain part of the former Gospić municipality (part of the Velebit coastal slope).

It is located in the southwest of the Lika-Senj County (part of the Velebit Podgorje), within which it borders with the local self-government units from the same county, namely in the northwest with a relatively short border with the City of Senj and in the northeast with a long border with the City of Gospić, i.e. it has a short border in the southeast with the municipality of Starigrad-Paklenica from Zadar County, while to the west stretches a part of the long (about 40 km), but narrow (1.8 km or 1 Nm wide) Velebit (Podgorski) channel, across which it borders the cities of Novalja in the northwest and Pag in the southwest , located on the island of Pag.
